چکیده

BruceUa bronchisepticus has been variously claified and at present is usually included either in the genus Brucella or the genus Hemophilus. Szturm and Bourdon (1948) have pointed out their inability to differentiate this organism from Alcaligewe faecalis, and we experienced the same difficulty in our laboratories. Reference to Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology, edition 6, offered no criterion by which these two groups could be differentiated. Therefore, an attempt was made to determine whether these organisms were alike or could be separated by their nutritional or biochemical characteristics.

The First Study of Investigation of Clinical Isolates of Alcaligenes Xylosoxidans and Alcaligenes Faecalis by Phenotypic and Genetic Methods in Iran

Background and Objective: Alcaligenes sp. is a non-fermentative Gram-negative bacillus, which causes nosocomial infections, including urinary tract infections, pneumonia, sepsis, and may be confused with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Alcaligenes infections usually are not well identified and due to possible errors and similarities with Pseudomonas, their diagnosis with phenotypic tests is not suffici...

Antimicrobial Activity of an Alcaligenes faecalis Strain Isolated from Oil Contaminated Soil

Abstract Background and Objective: The bacteria living in the specific ecological conditions are among the most promising antimicrobial producers. This study aimed at isolating antimicrobial producing bacteria from soils contaminated with crude oil. Material and Methods: the samples were obtained from crude oil contaminated soils around Dezful located in Khuzestan province, Iran, and antimicrob...

Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery Using Biosurfactant Produced by Alcaligenes faecalis

A bacterial strain (designated as Alcaligenes sp. MS-103) isolated from oil sample of the Aghajari oilfield in the south of Iran, was able to produce an effective extracellular lipopolysaccharide biosurfactant (1.2±0.05 g/l) on molasses as a sole carbon source. The highest surface tension reduction to level 20 mN/m was achieved by biosurfactant produced by cells grown on molasses under optimum ...

Species metabolic patterns in morphologically similar gram negative pathogens.

The morphological, cultural, biochemical, an(l nutritional characteristics of many of the species of microorganisms that are classified within the genera of Moraxella, Neisseria, Brucella, and Bordetella are so similar that identification of small gram negative organisms is both tedious and difficult. This impressive similarity that exists between species, and even between genera, is probably i...
